Yanquina Waterproof Eyeliner

This is by far the cheapest eyeliner and makeup product in general that I ever bought. It was less than 0.80 cents on AliExpress, so I it was "quite a splurge". Actually, I'll shallowly admit, that it was the polka dot design that got me. It is not a reliable eyeliner by any means, but for the first week it performed excellently and just as its much more expensive competition. Of course, it didn't last long, but I'm content with it considering the price.

The nib is one of the smallest I tried, so very precise, however, also very stiff with almost zero movement, which makes it harder to fix mistakes, so it's not my favourite. In the first days, it worked fabulously, it was super black, saturated with product and also long-lasting (I have normal eyelids). I started laughing the first time I tried it because it performed so well, comparable to my other liners and I found it ironic that it was a less than a tenth of a price. But as the days followed the felt tip applicator dried up fast. Not completely, but just so I couldn't do the flicks any more, they just looked see-through. Storing it upside down for a few days, brings it back to life, but it quickly depletes again. So it's not the most reliable product, but since it's so cheap, you can get a couple and switch them up, though none will last long.

For 0.80 € you could do far worse. Actually, I've had worse for 10 €. I think this is a great liner if you want to experiment and you're trying eyeliner for the first time, but it's not the most reliable one. By the way, it's now close to two months old and it still has colour, so I can still use it for a more smudgy look.

L'Oreal Superstar False Lash Mascara and Super Slim Eyeliner

Even I haven't missed the heavy advertisement campaign for the new Superstar mascara and eyeliner, and I always skip commercials when watching tv. Mascara is a two-part one and they've had such mascaras before, but I'm not sure if those had fibres or not. The eyeliner is already more innovative. It features a very interesting spear-like nib that is bendy.

False Lash Superstar Mascara

I won't beat around the bush - I intensely disliked this mascara from the start. It made my lashes look messy, not clumpy, but just every lash was going into its own direction. As a great majority of mascaras, it improved over the next weeks and it became a lot easier to deal with. But it's still a regular formula mascara that doesn't hold curl, so it's like it does nothing for me. 

False Lash Superstar Mascara is made out of two parts: the white primer coat and the black mascara. The white primer tints the lashes white at first, but it dries a lot less intense shade. It gives a lot of volume, though it's difficult to see due to it being white. The brush of the primer part has a hourglass shape. 

The black part feels thinner, but I can see the fibres on the brush, which actually has a different shape than white and it's a curved design. It doesn't feel like there are a ton of fibres inside, like at Asian mascaras, but they have fallen in my eyes a couple of times and it really wasn't pleasant. The black mascara part covers all the white bits on the lashes and makes them super black. 

The finally effect is very volumising, truly the volume is very impressive especially when it's been opened for a few weeks, but the lashes aren't defined enough for my taste. Through the day it lasts well, I didn't get any smudging or flaking, but fibres did fall in my eyes, which made them water and then of course mascara did smudge. I tried the primer with a very defining regular formula mascara that has a plastic comb and it started to look a bit spidery, so I wasn't happy with the result.

Due to it being a regular formula, my lashes of course drop immediately with it and since it's such a lengthening and volumising mascara, my lashes keep hitting my glasses, occasionally making an actually scratchy noise. Seriously, am I the only one with this problem when I wear regular formulas? But what I'm very bothered by is that this mascara appears to be almost oily or something, since I need to clean my glasses ever 15 minutes when wearing this. Very annoying.

Since I find regular formulas unimpressive, I gave the mascara to other people to test. It did not receive a very enthusiastic response, I'm afraid. Still if you liked the previous versions, you might like this one as well, since I assume it's very similar.

Super Liner Superstar 

They eyeliner is already more my cup of tea. I've tried tons felt tip eyeliners so far, these type of liners are some of my favourite makeup products and I currently have four new ones and two that are on their lasts legs, but this one has definitely the most unique tip I've ever tried. 

It's shaped like a spade or spear and is one of the largest of the slim eyeliner versions I've seen. The clipped base makes the nib bendy, so it feels more comfortable to use than a regular stiff felt tip applicator. However, the whole applicator is quite big, so it's difficult to get a very thin line. Out of the four new ones I have, I like this shape best for creating flicks, but they aren't completely sharp.

Formula is the same as at their Perfect Slim version, which remains one of my favourites. It's black, smooth and lasts nicely on my normal lids, except the flicks disappear by the end of the day. It has a semi-matte finish, which I much prefer to the glossy Stila one.

It's not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive eyeliner, so it's still acceptably priced for me, but it also depends on how long the tip will stay saturated. I think that if I needed a new good eyeliner fast, this is the one I'd get in our drugstores. It's reliable, easy to use and available everywhere (we don't have the Perfect Slim one here, but that one would be my first choice if we did because of the smaller nib), so it would be my first choice, while Essence would be for a cheap option and Artdeco for a splurge, since I love the applicator on that one.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

I've heard tons of raves about this eyeliner. There is this general consensus that Stila's and Kat von D's eyeliners are the best in the business, so naturally as an eyeliner fan, I was very tempted to try it, but the high price was always pulling me back. I did hear though that it lasts a year before it dries out, so it wouldn't be such a massive investment considering how many I buy due to them drying out in a few months (they don't dry completely, but the tip doesn't get any more colour and you can't do flicks). In a strange turn of events, when I got this one, I also got three others, all drugstore and I actually am not that convinced that this one is that much better than the rest. Ok, the formula is obviously more long lasting, but all others are reallyblack and also last well on my normal lids, so I think time will be its main test.

It has one of the smallest nibs, which is something I prefer when picking out eyeliner simply because they are much more precise and easy to work with, especially when it comes to making small corrections. It's a classic felt tip and I actually prefer those that are like a brush (Artdeco's for example), since they create a smoother line that doesn't need much fixing. It's otherwise a nice sturdy nib, except for the tip. The latter feels flimsy, like it's old. I don't know if that is just mine, or that's a general characteristics. It does make it feel less harsh, but it can escape control easier and it's very hard to almost impossible for me to do a sharp wing. I have to say the flimsy nib is bothering me more and more, but I'm uncertain whether only my liner is like that or all. Those who have tried it already, please let me know. 

The formula is very black (as at a majority of liners I tried to be fair) and, to me surprisingly, glossy even when it sets. I think all of my eyeliners had a matte or a slightly shiny finish, which I prefer, but glossy is fine too. The nib is always very saturated with product and you don't have to stop midway application to put the lid back on and shake it. Because of that, the application is very smooth and I don't need to go over the line again. Like most eyeliners it's rub-proof once it sets, though most do smudge a bit if you apply a lot of force, but this one doesn't with a dry tissue and even a wet wipe really struggles to remove it, so it's the type of liner that's better to be removed with a waterproof remover to avoid any unnecessary tugging. Because of that the wings remain untouched the whole day.

I bought mine on Beauty Bay for 18.40 €. I actually tried ordering it a few months before on Look Fantastic and it wouldn't let me through checkout with the liner in the cart, which is just the weirdest thing ever.

I had a question from Ana (Beautysaur), a diehard fan of Artdeco's eyeliner, which is better and after weeks of using it, I still honestly don't have an answer. Both have their faults, Artdeco's isn't as resilient and there's the whole thing that is didn't even work for the first few months, but I love the nib a lot more because it's more easy to control and it's smoother. Stila's also has a glossy formula, which wouldn't be my favourite feature, but I can live with it. What's more important is that's it's very long-lasting, so a formula that you can truly rely on and the nib is very saturated. I used to think I found my perfect liner in that Kardashian Beauty one, which is fantastic, but it dries out fast and there is no way I'm giving that family any of my money. I love the Sweet Pink one with the Panda design most as a budget option, but for my all-time favourite I remain searching and anyway, a great majority of them performs very similar which is great. I love this one's formula, it's the best one I've tried so far, but the flimsy tip is annoying to me. Maybelline's comes next.

Essence Wake Up, Spring! TE

Like every year Essence designed a spring inspired collection with mostly pastel shades, pinks and peaches. I got a few bits to try out before it reached our shops and I've had these for about a month, but I hear this collection just launched here (ni še na Click2Chic, ampak kolikor vem bo) and it should be available though March and April. I got the peachy blush in 01 hello sunshine!, white eyeliner pen in 02 let's the spring begin and a lipstick pen 02 bye-bye winter! You can see all the products that will be available below and you see an overview of the collection with some swatches here (video is in German). By the way, the nude eyeliner looks very similar to the recently discontinued Big Bright Eyes pencil, so if you missed it, here is a chance to get a similar one.

Eyeliner pen 02 let's the spring begin

There are three colours in the spring collection, aside from this white one also a pastel violet and mint green. Simona posted swatches and her first impressions of all three here. These are felt tip eyeliners with the same design of the nib as their waterproof version, which is a decent shape, but it doesn't make it easy to draw super thin lines. When I first swatched this one on the back of my hand, I was very pleasantly surprised by the staying power as it lasted all day on the skin, it also was intense enough, but on the eyes I had to layer it to get the colour going. It's not an intense, completely white liquid colour on the eyes, it's more of a chalk like effect. It tends to transfer to the crease despite using powder under it. I would suggest using a white eyeshadow over it to set it.

Blush 01 hello sunshine!

01 hello sunshine! is a classic peach blush with a highlighter-y finish. It has finely milled pink shimmer that gives it the cutest glow. It's on the sheer side, but with layering you can build up the colour just fine and it blends well, which isn't always the case at Essence blushes. The packaging is versatile and it mimics the design of Physicians Formula powder products, since it similarly has an additional compartment underneath and a mirror. There is also a cute sign saying blush up & smile.

lipstick pen 02 bye-bye winter!

 02 bye-bye winter! is a basic light neutral pink, very wearable and classically pretty. The quality is surprisingly good. It's opaque with a creamy finish and it contains a lot of wax to make it stick on better, but you don't feel that weird waxy layer on the lips. Due to such formula it completely survived meals and drinking several times, which is very impressive. It's a classic crayon pencil that needs to be sharpened and not a twist-up, which is shame, but for the price, it's fine. I think this is the stand out in this collection and worth picking up if you like such products

Golden Rose Extreme Sparkle Eyeliner 103

For years I wanted a proper glitter eyeliner. I've had them before, but since Essence is actually the only brand that does such products here (that I know off), I only tried theirs, which I always considered not glittery enough. I also had an E.l.f. one which didn't quite impress me either. All of those are long on the makeup graveyard, so last year I went in search for a new one and since Golden Rose is the new comer in Slovenia as well as very decently priced, I picked up one of theirs. They have several colours available and a metallic version too which is very praise worthy.

I picked up the shade called 103. I wanted something gold, but this one isn't ideal because I much prefer more bronzy/green types of gold and this one is very yellow. It's made out of thick, small gold glitter that sparkle so beautifully. When you dip the brush in the product, the first swipe will give you an almost fully opaque streak of colour, but the product quickly runs out from the brush, so you have to dip it again often. I would advise you wait for a bit before going over the line of the product again as working to quickly will shift the glitter, making it less intense. If you're patient, it's very easy to get a full opaque glitter line. I've worn this in my holiday inspired beauty post and of course, I did wear this for New Year's Eve, how could I not, but's hardly a product to wear for the office.

It lasted very well on me and I noticed no stray sparkles on my cheeks, so it holds well, but on the second day when I woke up I noticed my eyebrows were extra sparkly, since I removed it with a cleansing oil and it must have caught there when I was rubbing it all over the face.  

The packaging is plastic, despite that metallic looking brush cap - it's just painted. The brush is very thin and precise, but as I said before, it doesn't hold a lot of product.

I got mine in Citypark's Golden Rose stand for 3.10 €. I really want a silver one to. A black one would be awesome as well. Also available are emerald green, light blue and dark blue.

Brand Focus: New Products from Revlon

Colorburst Matte Balm in Enchanting and Fiery (Fall 2015)

Four new shades were released this Autumn and they are permanent as far as I know, however, in Slovenia only these two are available. I got the lightest and the darkest shade called Enchanting and Fiery. I already own Unapologetic from before and it's the same formula, so nicely creamy jumbo lip pencils that just glide on the lips and have more of a creamy-matte finish. These don't have the staying power of a proper matte lip colour, but they last well for standard creamy lipsticks and of course, the darker the colour, the longer it lasts, so Fiery is pretty good. They have a minty scent and even tingle a bit on the lips, but don't have a plumping effect.

Enchanting

An apricot nude shade. Based on how it looks in the tube, I expected something brown and ugly, but it really surprised me on the lips. I think it's a lovely nude, especially for those with a warm skin tone.

Fiery

This may be the darkest in the bunch, it's certainly the darkest shade sold here and it's a burgundy shade with a mix of some brown and a hint of berry tones. It's a not fully opaque shade with one application,  I mean it's close, but burgundies tend to be very intense and this one isn't quite, but it is with two coats. Due to the shape it's one of the easiest such shades to apply and you don't really need a lip liner, at least until you don't ruin the shape too much.

Photoready Prime + Anti-Shine Prime

A new primer by Revlon and they envisioned it as a travel friendly compact that you can use on a go either under foundation or over it, or you can even wear it on its own. It's definitely one of the best mattifying product I've tried and without the powdery-ness. 

It's a silicone based product so it creates this smooth, velvet layer on the skin. Because the skin is so smooth, it feels so soft and you just can't stop touching it, however, if you have a problem with silicones, this won't be for you. I think this is just perfect for very oily skin because it really keeps oiliness at bay and you can really use it over makeup because it's light and transparent, so it doesn't ruin anything. I wouldn't use this on dry skin, as it's too light and it prevents the any oils from breaking through, so it'll look very draining on you. There is a chance it will stick to dry patches, though I haven't experienced that, but now that it's colder I switched back to my old favourite Max Factor All Day Primer. It promises to hide pores as well and I prepared a before/after for you, so you can see its effect which isn't that impressive. It works to a certain degree, but  L'Oreal's Infallible foundation is miles better at this task. 

The product is in a compact and you can apply it with fingers or with an added sponge. It may seem gross to some to stick fingers in such products, but I think that this products meshes with the skin better with some heat from the fingers.

Photoready Kajal 350 Matte Expresso

I already said everything I had to say about this pencil in my New in post, but here you get to see it in action. The quality of it is brilliant. It's soft, it transfers well on the waterline, it's not harsh at all when you're drawing with it on the eyes and can be easily smudged if you want to. The staying power is insane. I applied it at 11 am in the waterline and checked again at 11 pm and it was still there. You don't want to know when took my makeup off and I went to sleep, but it was still hanging in the waterline. I'd say less than a half was gone, but from far away the effect was still the same, so pretty damn good. The colour is a deep cool toned brown that is a great alternative to black. I like to use this under my lower lashes, to give my eyes some definition.
